What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Almonry Gardens are widely praised for their beauty, tranquility, and the stunning views of Ely Cathedral. Visitors appreciate the free admission and the pleasant atmosphere for strolls and picnics. Some find the Almonry museum a bit underwhelming, but the gardens and the overall experience are highly recommended.
"Having moved to Battle a few months ago, we hired the Almonry on Saturday for a welcoming ceremony for our baby boy. Our guests, who came from across the country, were really taken with the building and space; the beautifully timbered rooms which were a perfect setting for the ceremony; the model of the town of Battle, which helped to give context to those who had not visited before; and the splendid garden, which was lovely to take photos in with a glass of champagne. The staff were very helpful and informative, providing glasses and fridge space for our drinks, and answering our wealth of questions before the event. The hire rates were very reasonable, and we felt it was the ideal place to show off our new home to our friends and family."

"Nice little museum in the town centre with free admission. We really liked the model of the town displayed in the museum. Some friendly volunteers welcomed us in and showed us where to find information. They also have a short film explaining the history of the building, including what it was used for. Outside there are well-maintained gardens with flowers and trees. Unfortunately it is not possible to access the upper floor of the historical building housing the museum."
