Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Ballard Down for its absolutely breathtaking views of the Jurassic Coast, making it a highly recommended spot for walks and photography. While the terrain can be challenging and uneven, and mist can sometimes obscure the scenery, the overall experience is described as peaceful, picturesque, and incredibly rewarding.

"Parked at Middle Beach car park which a National Trust one.
Then walked up to Old Harry Rocks where we continued up to Ballard Down.
Here you’ll see the most amazing views, down over Swanage & its Bay & Poole Harbour & out over to a Bournemouth & all the way long the coast to Hengistbury Head & also the IoW.
Sit there & take it all in, it’s so peaceful."

A G

"Breath taking views very long and hard walk all over uneven surfaces , fantastic mountain biking location , if you like going down hills off road !"

Mzazi

"Steady climb from Corfe Castle for 3 miles, followed by a sharp descent to the road, only to have a leg aching ascent of steps to the obelisk (the longer but easier route around the back is an option). From this point it's an easy stroll along Ballard Down to the coast or Old Harry. Normally the views are spectacular along this stretch, and you can see Poole Harbour, the Isle of Wight and Jurassic coast. However, today was so misty you could hardly see Swanage. Peaceful, quiet walk, but much better on a clear day."
