"I have gone to Brechfa forest so many times. I love it there. There's a huge area that you can drive around and thru. All very very rùŕàl. As you drive you find many places that you can stop and walk, they are all part of Brechfa forest.
For a long while it seemed to be overtaken by cyclists and mountain bike riders. But there are notices.up now for the cyclists to please stick to the bike routes (of which there are so many and of varying degrees of difficulty)and they please have respect for the others who use the forest...walkers, horse riders. SOME (Note I same some, for it is always the actions of the few that tend to spoilt things for the many) cyclists did unfortunately take over quite a bit, forging new ways thru and not caring about those crossing a walking.or trekking path, or taking way more of the forest than they should which is incredibly unfair to the other users of this beautiful place. Now tho...beautiful, walks, all the flora coming into flower nòw. Wild garlic. Coltsfoot, campion, bilberries, meadowsweet, wild strawberries..just to name a few.
Brechfa is a forest worth visiting. If you wish to cycle . Then head for the entrance called 'Ravens wing' with 2 huge wooden wings painted black at the main entrance.
Drive further along the same road and you come to Abergorlech. Beautiful, Tiny place but has picnic area. . Amazing wood carvings near the entrance, river, car parking and the most beautiful walks into the forest.... but there are so many other parts of and ways into Brechfa. My photos are NOT of Ravens wing or Abergorlech they are of a different part àgain that we enjoy going because there are not many people there. If you like your forest and picnic areas.more 'manicured' and with amenities, then stick to the MAIN entrances. Otherwise...drive around. Look for the open forestry gates, park up and take a walk from there. For there is so much beauty here"
