Reviews Summary

Glyder Fach is celebrated for its dramatic landscapes and rewarding scrambling, offering iconic sights like the Cantilever Stone and Castell y Gwynt. While many praise the challenging routes and stunning views, some visitors note the potential for getting lost and the treacherous nature of certain scrambles like Bristly Ridge in poor weather. Proper preparation and caution are key to a successful and enjoyable adventure.

"Parking on the road from Capel Curig at the Hotel Pen Y Gwryd Hotel gives you an easy ascent onto the ridgeline leading to the Glyders. After crossing the stream near the road there is no water higher up so make sure you have enough as the tops are rocky and the sun inescapable, on a hot day that is! From glider Fach the path Westwards becomes more challenging and you need to have a good idea of your route from there to Glyder Fawr as you could circle back down to your start point at the hotel of go off North via the Devil's kitchen; a much more challenging route with broken scree and rock for much of the descent. Yes there is an established path to follow but do not depend on your phone to route find on the ground if there is cloudy or heavy rain.

There is the balance stone for your group photos and views over the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) massif as a backdrop for your lunch stop. Challenging in Winter or low light conditions, children need to be closely supervised as rock scrambling is fun till you twist an ankle.
Yes proper mountain boots will protect you from the rock challenges but low cut boots can be used by experienced hill runners. An enjoyable day on the hill in good conditions with views to more challenging hills and rocky ridges."

"did it climbing up(must be careful for Bristly Ridge as loose stone esp for if u choose descent) that was more easily and manageable although sometime getting confusion where to go up. anyway, that was funny & some view also pretty"

"Glyder Fach offers an incredibly rewarding mild scrambling experience that truly tests your endurance, patience, and ability to keep a calm head.
I found myself a bit lost amidst the gullies and crags, but I made friends with a sheep along the way! The Bristly Ridge can be quite treacherous, especially in misty conditions, so it's crucial to exercise caution and choose a dry, still day for your adventure. I was fortunate to have the wonderful sunny bright day and occasionally coming across fellow experienced hiker to navigate this part of the trail.

Even with proper hiking gear, getting lost occasionally and going in circles was part of the challenge. However, relying on a combination of a paper map, offline navigation, and help from fellow hikers proved invaluable in finding my way. Glyder Fach is a true test of your hiking skills and mental fortitude, but the breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment make it all worthwhile.
Just remember to be well-prepared, cautious, and patient as you take on this exhilarating hike!"
