Bored of the football? I had a fantastic time today out at one of my favourite places, the enchanting, beautiful and homely Gunby Hall in Lincolnshire. Out in the frost, complete with winter structure, the earliest snowdrops, and the Christmas lights to the theme of a winter's tale. I absolutely LOVE it here, but had never been during the winter time. The gardens and beauty of the house are very...

Visiting Gunby Hall & Gardens today, a National Trust property in Lincolnshire to see the new solo exhibition by the fabulous @judyflanaganart ! The gardens are stunning and there is so much history linked to key movements (ie Arts & Crafts) linked to the various owners of Gunby Hall it is well worth a visit. However, Judy’s exhibition is fabulous - the photos taken today do not so the painting...

Reviews Summary

Visitors find Gunby Hall to be a charming and 'homely' country house with exceptionally knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. The extensive gardens are a major draw, offering beauty across all seasons and plenty of space for exploration. While the house tour is relatively brief, the personal insights from guides and the overall peaceful atmosphere make for a highly enjoyable visit. Reddit+2

"This is a rather nice little country house. It feels much more 'homely' than some; here there seems to have been both money and good taste, such a rare combination.
The Hall is rather a quick visit compared to some, but the grounds are nice, even in the rain.
At the moment (Sept 2025), there a gallery of work from an artist named Judy Flannigan. She's an artist is residence, so you get the chance to have a chat whilst you're looking at her work. She does rather nice, evocative landscapes, inspired to her visits to the Hebrides and Derwent Water.
Overall, even though it was a very damp day, we really enjoyed our visit, from the young lady in the tea shop, who was so enthusiastic about the Hall, to the guides inside who knew so much and even played the piano in the music room for us."

"We absolutely love Gunby Hall and visit frequently throughout the year. Really recommend visiting for people of all ages. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and there's lots of space and adventures for children to have. Lovely walks too. The cafe serves ice creams, snacks, cakes and hot and cold drinks. There's a second hand book shop too and the events throughout the year are well worth a visit. This is a real gem and one of our happy places 💖"

"Nice place with lovely gardens.
The house is a real time capsule and the staff are the most informative I have ever met.
My only gripe is not a lot of rooms open to the public upstairs and no shop which is unusual for a large property."
