Jorvik ⚔️ @jorvikviking We had the best time stepping back in time at JORVIK Viking Centre in York! From the moment we hopped on the time travelling ride, the kids were absolutely hooked wide-eyed, giggling, and totally fascinated by Viking life. It’s such a fun way to explore history you don’t just read about the past, you smell it, hear it, and ride through it! The scenes were so detailed (a...

Reviews Summary

Jorvik Viking Centre offers a unique, immersive journey into Viking-age York, praised for its authentic smells and engaging animatronic ride. Visitors appreciate the historical artifacts and knowledgeable costumed staff, though some find the experience a bit pricey for its duration. The sensory aspects, particularly the recreated aromas, are a memorable highlight for many. Reddit

"The information that was given by the people running it was very factual. The ride was about 20 minutes long and was also full of information. I can't help but feel like if they used real people at some parts of the ride then it would have been more gripping. But as many I understand with the wage costs it isn't possible. Over all its a quirky little spontaneous thing to do."

RPB B

"The animatronics tour was great. The smells were a little foul at times but added to the authenticity, which is great attention to detail. Definitely worth a visit, especially on a rainy day like today! 1h is plenty. The museum bit is not so extensive"

Taimi Venho

"While the 15-minute ride felt a little pricey, the experience extends well beyond it. The small exhibition of genuine artifacts and the knowledgeable, costumed staff add a lot of value. However, the most unforgettable part is the smell. They've boldly recreated the aromas of 10th-century York, and the result is a truly immersive, albeit weird, sensory experience. They definitely deserve credit for creating a full journey that engages your sight, sound, and, most powerfully, your sense of smell."
