Lake/river around Manchester?

Hi all, I need some recommendations. It's my birthday next weekend and I wanna take a little solo trip next to a nice body of water (bonus points if I am able to swim in it!). I don't drive so anything reachable by bus/train/cycling. Thanks!

"An amazing little countryside oasis right in the middle of the city, plenty of varied places for a good walk and plenty of wildlife to see.

Popular with casual and serious walkers and interesting to watch the boats, model boats and model aircraft.

If you fancy a nice short walk with the kids, or fancy covering a good few miles there is plenty here."

Shoot McRunfast

"Nice reservoir. Nice walks through woodland, and paths around reservoir and along River Mersey. Some watersports on site.

Some areas blocked on one side, making some walking difficult if trying to go off path.

Toilet facilities may be closed if visitors' centre closed. See cafe for assistance. Bar/Restaurant nearby. Pub nearby."
