Reviews Summary

Ogmore Castle is a charming, free-to-visit Norman ruin offering historical intrigue and scenic riverside walks. Visitors appreciate its accessibility and picturesque setting, especially the iconic stepping stones. However, the challenging road access and limited parking are frequently cited drawbacks.

"If you like visiting castles then Ignore Castle is a worthwhile destination. Free entry and parking are a bonus. It is a maintained ruin, so once you have walked around the walls and looked in the old chapel there isn't a lot more to do, other than cross the river on the stepping stones and take a few photos."

Andrew Scott

"I think you can get in before 10.00am, I arrived at 9.30 and the gate was open. The road down to the castle is single track and badly potholed. Park just in front of the castle on the riverside which can be prone to flooding. The parking and castle are free. The ruins are quite small but nice to walk around and good views across the river. I couldn't walk across the stones on the river as the water was a little too high but if you there are nice walks and horses on the other side. Well worth a visit as it's close to the main road."

David Lawrence

"Love visiting this place, taking a wander and some times crossing the water via the stepping stones too. Parking can be tricky with only enough space for about 10 cars, take it slow down the lane as there are lots of potholes and often dogs and horses too."
