What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Orlock Point is a hidden gem praised for its stunning natural beauty, secluded beaches, and dramatic coastal views. Visitors love the rugged landscape and the sense of tranquility. However, the lack of facilities, occasional muddy and uneven paths, and issues with dog waste detract from the experience for some.
"Great little hidden gem just past groomsport. Parking on the road side and a lovely little walk that takes you to groomsport beach if you go far enough. Great for little legs (4 year old and 9 year old in tow), mostly flat but a few tricky wee bits to navigate so not ideal for any mobility issues. Someone has hung a little rope swing which was fun and a few wee beach spots along the route to go down to and explore."

"unique landscape and views. a hidden treasure that i have lived only 20 minutes away from but never had a look until today.
only downside is the pathways are littered with dog faeces and the bushes are festooned with little black bags of grimness from the many filthy and irresponsible dog owners in the area. they have signs up begging people to clean up after their dogs but sadly its falling on blind eyes and deaf ears."

"I was not expecting such beautiful scenes until walking along that coastal route. I am totally attracted by the extraordinary landscapes. It’s very different from the northern coast around course way route. Kids also did enjoy this adventure very much. I would say it is a totally natural, so no public facilities and the car park is just a short park dead end road. There are sharp rocks and cliffs. Therefore, kids must be looked after very carefully."

Navigating the Coastal Path
While the path is largely natural, some sections are managed by the National Trust. Visitors have noted that some parts 'need better signage and some maintenance to keep from deteriorating'. Despite these challenges, the reward is immense: 'breathtaking views from every point' and 'close contact with secluded beaches'. The path offers a truly immersive experience of the rugged Northern Ireland coastline.
The Natural Beauty and Its Challenges
However, this natural beauty comes with its own set of challenges. The area is described as having 'sharp rocks and cliffs', requiring careful supervision of children. A significant issue highlighted by visitors is the problem of dog waste littering the pathways, with 'little black bags of grimness' being a common sight. This detracts from the natural appeal and is a point of frustration for many responsible visitors. Despite this, the allure of the 'rugged coastline' and the chance to discover 'little hidden beaches' continues to draw people to this special spot.
