What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pink Bay Beach is praised for its unique pink sand and tranquil atmosphere, offering a peaceful escape from busier neighboring beaches. Visitors appreciate the scenic walk and the opportunity for rock pooling and swimming. However, the steep descent to the beach and the lack of amenities are noted drawbacks.
"We decided to go on the bank holiday Monday and parked up at Prothcawl. That beach was busy, so we just followed the path along side the golf course and 15-20 mins later we were on the Pnk bay beach which was much quieter. only a few familys here.
The sea is very rocky here, so be careful going in the water as it's easy to cut your feet.
but for tanning and sand it's great. but there are no toliets near by or any other amenities without the 20 min walk back."

"What a great beach, really rocky when the tide is In but if you time it right when the tide is out it reveals a good sandy beach, lots of rock pools to adventure around, parking in the car park of rest bay and its a 15 20 minute walk from the car park to there, there is a boardwalk but to get there but to get on the actual beach it over a uneven ground 😀 definitely will be visiting again"

"A beautiful place to walk with the family. It looks like it has a big surfing community also with a place to hire boards ect.
If you're looking for rock pools, breath taking scenery or even a search for drift Wood, this beach is the place to go.
Also, other visitors are very lovely and conscientious, no littering is refreshing! We took a bag to pick up any dropped but here there was only one single piece that looked more dropped from a pocket. Well Done 👏"

The Unique Pink Hue of Pink Bay Beach
While the pink sand is the main draw, the beach's composition also means it can feel a bit more solid and damp underfoot compared to typical soft, dry sand. This unique texture, combined with the visual spectacle, makes Pink Bay a photographer's dream and a memorable destination for visitors seeking something out of the ordinary.
Navigating the Terrain and Tide
The experience on the beach is also heavily influenced by the tide. At low tide, Pink Bay reveals its sandy stretches, making it ideal for sunbathing and exploring the numerous rock pools teeming with marine life. When the tide comes in, the sea becomes very rocky, and the beach area shrinks. Visitors are advised to check tide times to make the most of their visit, especially if planning to swim or enjoy the sandy areas. The rocky sea floor underwater is noted as being flat and free of pebbles and seaweed, which is great for swimming.
A Tranquil Escape: Why Pink Bay is Quieter
The lack of direct amenities, such as toilets and bins, also contributes to its quieter nature. Visitors must come prepared, which can deter casual visitors looking for convenience. However, for those who make the effort, the reward is a serene beach experience with a unique natural beauty. The community also appears to be conscientious, with reports of minimal littering, further enhancing the beach's appeal as a clean and tranquil escape.
