I recognised this immediately and had to scroll up to be sure it was The Portico. I've only been there once but it's an amazing reading room. They bring you wine to the table!

Hi All! Anyone know of any libraries other than the very busy and packed Central and John Dylan's (St Peters Square) that are not busy and great to get your head down in? Say, a 2-3 mile radius from Central is okay. Cheers Edit - John *Rylands* autocorrect done me wrong.

Probably not what you want, but it might be worth it for the peace and quiet https://www.theportico.org.uk/ (I'm not a member, but I have been tempted to join)

"What an incredibly strange place! The staff are great and nice but this place isn't for the public as much as they adamantly say so. Small place and much of the sitting and rest areas are reserved for members. The public doesn't have anything to do besides take a look around for 5 minutes. I would say either 1) make it quite accessible for the public or 2) make it members only. This - being in two places at once - isn't cutting it at all."
