Anyone willing to walk from Brighton clock tower to Seven sisters?

LOL, very random post but in a nutshell, I’m 23, a uni student, and Ive been working nights a lot and I feel like I’ve turned into a robotic couch potato and wanted to challenge myself; being some what spontaneous this has led me to want to do this walk. I’d rather do it with…

Advice on breaking up trip as best as possible

Hello! I'm hoping to do my first solo trip at the end of this year. I've never been to the UK, and I'm hoping to go for a total of 3 weeks (22 days)! I've been told I'll want at least 10 days in London, but I'm having trouble dividing up my last 12 days. (If there are any day…

London day or weekend trips in January - is Seaham reasonable?

Update: thanks everyone for the advice! I'm still combing (hehe) through the comments to do more research, but I'm planning to skip Seaham and do a couple days in a closer seaside town. I'm pretty committed to doing something outside the city and ideally on a beach. I know it'll…

I'm planning a bikepacking trip from Plymouth (I'm coming on the ferry from Brittany) to Brighton this summer. Are there any must see places along that path I could add?

I know nothing about cycling so this might not be viable, but I'd say you're doing your journey a disservice by missing out the entire coastline; The Jurassic Coast is beautiful and it's *right there*!

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the South Downs Way Arun Valley for its spectacular views and diverse natural beauty, offering a perfect escape into nature. The varied trails are ideal for walking and cycling, with opportunities for wildlife spotting. While phone signal can be weak, many see this as a positive for a true disconnect. Reddit

"Wow! What a beautiful place to visit so if you're passing through or fancy a wonderful day out this is somewhere you need to see. We travelled here to take part in a RC Crawler event and it does not disappoint. We spent over four hours walking the trails with our cars and covered a distance of five miles. In that time we came across some amazing walks amongst the trees and vegetation, you will definitely need your walking shoes or suitable footwear to enjoy the ups and downs. Make sure you bring plenty of water and food if you're gonna be here a while and re connect with nature. This is a fantastic place to waste hours away and if you're of a certain age take you back to when you were younger, the phone coverage is spotty so expect to disconnect from the grid and truly enjoy yourself without distractions."

"The South Downs National Park is one of those places that feels both vast and welcoming at the same time. Stretching across over 1,600 square kilometers of rolling chalk hills, ancient woodlands, and open heath, it’s the kind of landscape that invites you to slow down and take big, deep breaths. On my visit, I loved how varied the wildlife was—you’ll spot red kites circling overhead, butterflies drifting through wildflower meadows, and if you’re lucky, even deer darting quietly between the trees. The walking and cycling routes are well-marked, and the views from the South Downs Way seem to go on forever, especially when the light hits the chalk cliffs along the coast.

What really makes the experience special, though, is how easy it is to break up a long day outdoors with good food and a bit of rest. Scattered across the park are cozy country pubs serving hearty meals and local ales, as well as farm shops and cafés where you can grab something lighter. It never feels commercial or overrun—you can find a quiet bench with a sandwich just as easily as a sit-down roast in a 17th-century inn. Whether you’re there for a long hike, a short stroll, or just to unwind with a picnic, the park has a way of balancing natural beauty with small comforts that make you want to linger."

"Spectacular views across the South Downs, we parked in Butser hill car park, not sure when they will be charging to park as when we were there it wasn't quite finished yet, but will still be worth it I think."
