What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Sowe Valley Walk offers a mixed experience, with some visitors praising its potential for wildlife spotting and peaceful nature escapes, while others highlight issues with litter, overgrowth, and safety concerns in certain areas. Despite these drawbacks, pockets of beauty and tranquility can still be found.
"There's a kids play area with a tyre swing and benches by The Lindfield. Can walk for quite awhile along the river I think. Sadly bit overgrown and littered as many places are. Some areas quite peaceful though.
I've walked along the stream, over a bridge north/east and there's a big sports field there- it's clean and quiet, behind Riverbank academy/ Chinese school. Heard/saw 2 great spotted woodpeckers here. Will keep exploring."

"The Sowe valley...follow the many posted trails and enjoy fabulous wildlife.. beautiful woodlands and meadows..from one side of Coventry City to the other...a lifetime of wildlife adventures to be had."

"I was disappointed by the Sowe Valley walk when I walked it on Saturday, following the brochure on the Internet. Firstly, I am amazed that I didn't get lost, but I put that down to there not being much to distract me and that wandering alone into unfamiliar parts of town isn't my idea of fun. There were some areas I enjoyed, including Hawkesbury Junction, Wyken Slough Nature Reserve (where I saw a pair of swans with 3 cygnets) and Wyken Croft Nature Park which all had a good atmosphere and friendly people. However, there were a few areas where I felt unsafe walking alone and I saw none of the wildlife promised on the leaflets. The parts of the walk near the M6 and A46 were very noisy which may explain why there wasn't much wildlife there. It was good to get out for a walk, though - a shame to have to go further afield next time! πΎ"
