What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Walsall Canal presents a mixed picture, with its recent reopening after a chemical spill being a significant positive. While some visitors enjoy peaceful walks and wildlife spotting, others are dismayed by persistent litter and pollution, which detract from its potential beauty. The canal's future appeal hinges on continued environmental efforts and community engagement.
"The area around Bentley Green is still a disgrace. The plastic doll that was on a post (Ruby Tuesday) 3 years ago is still there...now just a doll head. There are mounds of filthy sacks of rubbish alongside the canal. The canal itself is choked with litter, plastic waste even a bike, and the bridges covered in graffiti.
It could be so beautiful. There are moorhens and Canada geese swimming in all this mess."

"Canal is beautiful but littered by the residents of walsall. Usually stinks. I have seen dead fish in it on several occasions due to polutting water. If the water board and local authority pay more attention to its cleanliness. The canal will be a attraction of the Midlands."
