What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Wolverton Station is appreciated for its train spotting potential and historical significance, offering views of various services. However, it faces criticism for significant accessibility issues, including a lack of lifts and high train steps, as well as inconsistent opening hours for amenities like the ticket office and cafe.
"Nice place to go to. 2 Platforms for boarding Trains and 2 Platforms for fast Trains - makes Train Spotting decently okay. You can open the gate on Platform 1 and 2 (I recommend 2) for spotting fast Trains on Platforms 1 and 2, then you can go to Platform 3 for Spotting Platforms 3 and 4.
Platform 4 for London Euston and Platform 3 for Birmingham, you have to travel a bridge (No lift access) to get to Platform 3 from Platform 4 (Annoying with no lift). Multiple shelter places on Platforms 3 and 4 which is great for rain.
A lack of lifts doesn't help peoples case and the train station door is never open so you always have to go through the 'Emergency Exit Gates' at the front.
Ticket buying machines at the front of the station and decent size car park at the front of the station.
Not being Wheelchair friendly gives it a 4* because a lot of people in wheelchairs might need to use this station, and they have to go on Platform 4 unless someone helps but thats quite rare to see!"

"Wolverton railway station is one of the seven stations serving the Milton Keynes urban area. The first Wolverton station was built just north of the canal for the opening of the London and Birmingham Railway on 17-Sep-1838, but it proved to be temporary as the railway company built a larger station in 1840, at the east end of Church Street."

"A very convenient station for travelling to London, possible to reach Euston in 45 minutes on the fastest trains. Excellent connections further north to Northampton and Birmingham as well.
Not an accessible station as there are no lifts, just a foot bridge, and the step from the train to the platform is very big. I'd strongly recommend travelling from Milton Keynes Central for accessible travel.
Unfortunately the station has been unstaffed for a while, the ticket office and cafe have been "temporarily" closed for months, and no sign of when it will reopen.
Edit: the ticket office finally reopened in 2025 on weekday mornings."
