What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hikers consistently praise Alum Cave Bluffs for its stunning natural beauty, diverse scenery, and unique geological formations like Arch Rock and the bluffs themselves. Many find the moderate challenge rewarding, with breathtaking views making every step worthwhile. Some visitors note the trail can be steep and parking fills quickly, but overall, it's considered a must-do hike in the Smokies.
"A nice hike through the mountains. Our of breath within minutes... lol... but paced ourselves stopping and resting many times along the way. We are no way professional hikers, but not so unfit either. Maybe coming from flat South Florida, the slightest incline felt steep 😊. Awesome scenery along the way, so gorgeous, it was worth every step. And of course, going back down was much easier. We hinged to Alum Cave and back... just under 5 miles round trip."

"This place is awesome. There's really some really beautiful views from several spots. The bluff is epic! Creeks, bridges, plants you don't see in lower elevations, cool rock formations, etc. If you're having doubts because the parking lot is full don't let it fool you, all those people are scattered out over a 5 mile trail so it's pretty quiet for fellow introverts. It's a 5 mile walk to the peak, round trip is 10. To the alum cave bluffs it's 2.8 or 2.9 miles one way, 5.6 total...pretty sure."

"Trail is 2.3 mile up and great hike alongside natural formations. A good resting place for picnickers to Mt. Le Monte."
