What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
UMA is praised for its affordability and professors who genuinely care about student success, making many feel welcomed and valued. However, the lack of dorms and a developing aviation program are noted drawbacks, with some finding student life limited and preferring other institutions for a more traditional campus experience.
"I transferred here after attending a private college that wasn't a very good fit for me. I absolutely loved my time at UMA online. I felt 100% more welcome and respected and I felt like a valued part of the UMA community. I truly enjoyed my time here and if I knew this college existed earlier I would have choose UMA instead of my last college anyday. I'm a proud UMA alumni. Great school, very affordable, good quality professors who care about students success!"

"I was an aviation major at UMA and could only deal with a year of it. The Aviation department is fairly new and while the flight school they are partnered with is very proficient the university side of things is still a mess which makes things very frustrating. There are no dorms which means that if you live outside of Central Maine you're basically forced to commute or find an apartment which is incredibly inconvenient. Student Life is practically nonexistent. You can get a much better experience for around the same price at Vermont Tech. I opted to transfer to the bigger more expensive aviation schools where there are better career connections, an actual campus life and residence halls. Best decision I've made so far in my college career was to leave UMA."

"I attend UMA and I love it. I don't know what one of the other comments was talking about when they said there's no student life. There's literally a department for it that plans TONS of awesome events (we even had a ball last year) and tons of trips. Boothbay, Bar Harbor, Boston, Salem, New York. It's a great school."
