The history of the Baltimore Basilica ⛪️ Edit: I made a mistake when writing the script. John Carroll was the cousin of Charles, not brother. 🤓 #baltimore #history

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Baltimore Basilica for its stunning historical architecture and its significance as the first Catholic cathedral in the U.S. Many appreciate the opportunity to take tours, especially those that include the crypt, and find the atmosphere peaceful and beautiful, even if they are not Catholic. Some note that weekdays offer a less crowded experience.

"The Basilica is a beautiful Catholic church, the first in the United States according to the tour guide. I went to the 10:30 Sunday Mass and was blessed to watch a baptism. They also offered a tour after mass that was just over an hour to see the beautiful church and learn about the history. I drove in from Harrisburg PA and spent the day in Baltimore. Beautiful day trip and highly recommend!"

Dennis Schneider

"Beautiful historical building.

Not a catholic or christian, but the church was beautiful. I can see that it has been here for awhile but still beautiful.

Not many people were there during the weekday. I think there is a tour upon a request for the basement area where all the historical artifacts are stored.

Idk how the mass is like but i think the priest I came across today was really friendly.

I recommend here on weekdays because weddings may happen on weekend"

Hye Jeong Lee

"Huge fan of basilicas in general and when I saw Baltimore had one I had to go visit it. Idk about any of you but basilicas don’t disappoint when it comes to architecture. Flew my drone around it and got a view of the city too."
