"The grave of Edgar Allan Poe... Yes, please! Just some advice to those who visit the cemetery. Look past the grave of Poe...
We agree, it was awesome to be there and pay our respects to Poe, but spend some time looking around at the placards and the others who are buried in the cemtery.
Poe's original burial site and Poe's grandfather, who brought the family to Baltimore, serve as examples. The grave of Philip Barton Key II, son of Francis Scott Key, who was murdered by General Sickles (that's an interesting story), among many, many others there.
We want to give a shout-out to the man who was working there and preparing to leave for the day.
We were looking for a couple of graves that my wife had on our list to visit and were having a difficult time finding them. Initially, he went inside the church, came out with a map, and walked around with us to help find one of the graves.
Then he took us—personally, just us— into the catacombs to find one of the others.
Like I said, he was getting ready to leave, and he took some time and spent it with us. We will never forget that. Thank you!"

"My boyfriend and I did the private tour. We had Jeff Jerome as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Edgar Allan Poe, and all of the other historic gravesites there. Jeff was very welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend doing a tour with him."

"This historical landmark is unmatched in character! I photographed a wedding here in October 2023. The burial grounds outside add an extra sense of eerie, but the inside is just gorgeous with high ceilings and pillars. I loved the burial grounds specifically because of the trees (there aren't that many colorful ones in Baltimore City but here there were a few really pretty ones). Also, photographing a vibrant, white wedding gown against dramatic lighting through trees and mausoleums is... inspiring and incredible!
I suggest paying lots of attention to the curves in the architecture, it adds extra personality to the portraits. Also, the grand organ is simply a showstopper! Certainly a must see!"
