"A fun and unexpected urban art surprise!
The Tunnel Mural on Marion Street was such a cool find during our time in Columbia! We happened to be nearby and decided to stop—and we’re so glad we did. The mural is much larger in person than it looks in pictures, and the detail is incredible. It’s designed to look like you’re entering a tunnel carved into a rocky mountain, with a road disappearing into the distance and the sun setting beyond. The illusion is really well done—it almost tricks your eyes at first glance!
It’s located on the side of a parking garage, and while it’s not in a typical tourist spot, it’s definitely worth a detour if you’re exploring downtown Columbia or visiting nearby attractions like the State House. We loved taking a few photos and just standing there appreciating the creativity.
There’s something really charming about finding street art like this in unexpected places—it adds personality to the city and invites you to slow down and notice your surroundings. If you enjoy murals, street art, or just a unique photo op, definitely check this one out."

"It’s behind a private lot so other than taking a photo from the street was hard to get a cool photo of our car"

"Cool mural on the side of a building. You can walk up to it, but it is in a gated parking lot. The giant fire hydrant is located on the same street corner."
