What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Flagler Beach for its beautiful, peaceful atmosphere and stunning sunrises. The beach's sand and shells create a picturesque scene, and it's noted as a great spot for surfing and even horseback riding. While the pier's reconstruction means limited access, the overall beach experience remains highly positive, with many appreciating its "American vibes" and pet-friendly nature.
"Nice scenic place to stop shortly if you are in the area, to get some rest. It's prohibited to walk on it because it's an old bridge, but the view is nice"
Ran Naftaly
"The sand has bigger grains than expected and there were a lot of tiny shells mixed in. Definitely made for a beautiful scene! Likely one of my favorite beaches thus far!"
Angela Felten
"Flagler beach is so beautiful and peaceful! Amazing sunrise! Good surfing! You can even go horseback riding on the beach! The Flagler Beach Pier is almost as old as the city itself and was built in 1927. The Pier is a great place to fish and you do need to pay for Pier access. It is also a good place for whale watching if your timing is right. Another cool thing about the beach is that four types of sea turtles nest here and are protected under the laws. Sea Turtle Nesting Season is May 1-October 31. Fun Fact: “USA Today ranked Flagler Beach as one of the best places to take your pets when planning a beach vacation.”"

The Rebirth of Flagler Beach Pier
This rebuilding effort blends historic charm with modern engineering. While the original pier was a beloved wooden structure, the new design incorporates concrete elements to ensure longevity. The goal is to preserve the pier's role as a central hub for fishing, relaxation, and enjoying ocean views, while also safeguarding it against the powerful forces of nature.
Visitors can anticipate a revitalized pier experience when it fully reopens in early 2026. The wider spaces are designed to accommodate both anglers and those simply looking to stroll and take in the coastal scenery. The beach renourishment efforts also contribute to strengthening the shoreline, making the entire area more robust.
Fishing and Marine Life Encounters
The waters off Flagler Beach are also rich with marine life. Sea turtles are a common sight, with four species nesting along the shores between May and October. Keep an eye out for dolphins playing in the waves, and if your timing is right, you might even be lucky enough to spot whales. The pier provides an excellent vantage point for observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Even if you're not fishing, the pier offers a chance to witness the local marine ecosystem. Watching experienced anglers bring in their catches or simply observing the diverse sea life can be a fascinating part of your visit.

The atmosphere in Flagler Beach is often described as having strong "American vibes," with a laid-back and friendly feel. It's a place where you can enjoy the simple pleasures of the coast, from watching the surfers to taking a leisurely walk on the beach. The town also hosts unique events, like dog surfing competitions, adding to its quirky charm.
