What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sutter Street Theatre is a beloved local venue praised for its passionate owners, intimate atmosphere, and quality productions. While many enjoy the charming setting and diverse shows, some visitors have had negative experiences with specific immersive elements, like the 'splash zone' in 'Evil Dead: The Musical,' leading to unexpected costs and ruined belongings. Overall, it's a cherished community theater offering unique experiences.
"The owners really care about what they bring to you, whether you like it or not. They only bring what they honestly believe is the best. The accommodations were quite nice, especially for a venue so small and the surrounding businesses are quaint, lovely and accommodating. I went to go see the Evil Dead. It was my first time there and I have to say they delivered and everything and every experience they said they would. If you're into small theater or just a person who likes to experiment with different experiences, I hardly suggest this place. And if you don't know Evil Dead, there's quite a bit of violence and a little bit of cursing. But good fun for the right family."

"Well, I do not live in the area so when I attend performances it is a trip over 150 miles and I have to get a hotel room. Went to several shows here and they were great so I really wanted to attend a performance of Evil Dead. It appeared that every show was sold out so I called to get on a wait list. I got a call saying they had tickets. I called back and paid $70 over the phone. After paying the person says and those seats are in a splash zone. Asking what they meant, I was told oh they just throw some water on you. Well that’s not what they mean I was completely covered drenched in some jelly substance and water that ruined my shoes and made me have to buy a new phone the next day. Really? Just warn people so they don’t travel over 100 miles spend over 1000 and have to throw away 200 dollar shoes and buy a new phone the next day! Very unprofessional treatment! I get the joke, but not at a customers expense!"
