Does anyone know of sandy beaches around the Tacoma area or closest one? Having a very little kid in the family, I was hoping to take it easier on them at the beach.

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the abundant marine life visible in the tide pools during low tide, calling it a 'gem' for nature exploration. The sandy beach and scenic views of Carr Inlet and Mount Rainier are also frequently praised. While parking can be limited and facilities are basic (porta-potty only), the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit.

"We came here to explore low tide and we weren't disappointed. We saw crabs, starfish, and hermit crabs. We even saw a Great Blue Heron!
The water was nice and clear. The beach started rocky and turned to sand as we got closer to the water. Plenty of tide pools with lots of life!
There are a couple of picnic tables but they are higher up from the beach and they are in the shade.
We got to the beach an hour before low tide and there was plenty of parking. The trail to the beach from the parking area is downhill.
There is a porta-potty and it wasn't bad, no hand sanitizer though.
There was a patrol officer there and I assume it's for the parking situation. I can see that being a problem for the local neighborhood.
All in all, this was a wonderful park that was very clean and full of so many amazing views!"

Tara H

"Really pretty beach, not very busy when we went (a weekday before lunch). Very fun to visit during low tide to see starfish, and crabs. Parking lot isn't bad, but only a port-a-potty for a bathroom."

Jennifer Borka

"Another gem at low tide if you can find your way out here. Make sure you park at the upper parking lot. There are various trails that get down at the beach."
