Reviews Summary

Visitors are consistently awed by the Buckhorn Wash Pictograph Panel, praising its stunning preservation and the direct connection it offers to ancient peoples. The scenic drive and easy accessibility are also highlighted as major positives. However, some note that midday sun can make viewing the pictographs challenging.

"This is a sheer rock wall with a number of pictographs on it of varying ages. We found the images to be quite interesting and then various stages of preservation.

The road from the north was in surprisingly good condition even for a 2 Wheel Dr. There had been a recent rain with a lot of mud on the road that had been cleared off.

The drive along the wash to access this area was quite beautiful with large rock formations alongside.

We were there in midday and the bright sun made it hard to see some of the pictographs. Going there when it is shady would probably be a better experience."

"Was in town for work and was told about this from the museum I was walking thru. Glad I made the time to come out and see these. Well worth the drive"

"The Buckhorn Wash Pictograph Panel is absolutely stunning one of the best-preserved and most awe inspiring examples of ancient Barrier Canyon Style rock art in the Southwest. These haunting figures, painted over 2,000 years ago, connect you directly to the people who once lived in and honored this landscape.

Please do not carve your initials or dates into the rock. The panel isn’t a guestbook, it’s sacred history. Every mark made today erases a story from the past. Let’s protect it so future generations can feel the same awe we do.

Truly unforgettable."
