Visitors appreciate the spaciousness, cleanliness, and free admission, highlighting it as a family-friendly destination with ample green space for picnics and activities. "Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ, is a beautiful and peaceful spot with amazing views of the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan skyline, and Ellis Island. The park is spacious, great for walking, jogging, or biking along the waterfront paths. There’s plenty of green space for picnics and relaxing. The park is also clean and well-maintained, though some restrooms could use better upkeep. It’s a perfect place for a day out with family or friends while enjoying nature and stunning city views."

"Beautiful views of the NYC skyline. Beware that parking is not staffed and the owners of the lot want you to pay via a smartphone. Also on the grass, beware the dog poop 💩. It is literally everywhere - best stick to the paved paths. But did I mention the stunning views of the NYC skyline? Still worth it - for sure."

Steve F

"This New York iconic destination still has its charm, but currently under major restoration, so you can’t even come close to the base. It’s full of heavy machinery making constant noise, which is ruining a lot the whole impression.
The museum on premises we liked a lot, very educational and you can actually touch the pieces of the statue like face or foot.
As everyone has probably already said the statue looks way smaller in a real life than you would expect, but we liked our visit overall.
Be ware that last ferry to New Jersy is at 5:45 pm, but all the cafe and gift shops are closing at 5pm."

Capturing the Iconic Skyline

Liberty State Park offers arguably one of the most breathtaking and accessible views of the Manhattan skyline. The waterfront promenade is the prime spot for this, stretching for miles and providing an unobstructed panorama. For photographers, the golden hour (sunrise and sunset) and blue hour (the period after sunset when the sky is a deep blue) are magical times to capture the city lights beginning to twinkle. Instagram Many visitors find that the views here rival those from Manhattan itself, but with fewer crowds. Reddit

Beyond the general skyline, specific landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are clearly visible. This makes Liberty State Park a fantastic alternative for those who want to see these icons without the commitment of a ferry trip or the crowds on Liberty Island. The Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial also provides a poignant backdrop, with the city skyline serving as a constant reminder of the events it commemorates. Instagram+1

For the best photographic results, consider bringing a wide-angle lens to encompass the vastness of the skyline and a tripod for stable shots during low-light conditions. Remember that the park is large, so comfortable walking shoes are essential to explore different vantage points and discover your own favorite views. Instagram

A Place of Remembrance and Art

Adding a contemporary artistic dimension to the park is the 'Reclining Liberty' sculpture by Zaq Landsberg. This 25-foot-long replica of the Statue of Liberty offers a unique and thought-provoking artistic statement, inviting visitors to see a familiar symbol in a new light. Instagram+1 The park has also hosted temporary installations and events, such as the water lantern festival, adding to its dynamic cultural landscape. Instagram

These elements, combined with the natural beauty and iconic views, make Liberty State Park a multifaceted destination. It offers opportunities for both solemn remembrance and appreciation of contemporary art, all set against the backdrop of one of the world's most famous cityscapes.

Family Fun and Outdoor Activities

Liberty State Park is a beloved destination for families, offering ample space and activities for all ages. The expansive green fields are perfect for picnics, playing frisbee, or simply letting children run around. Instagram+1 The waterfront paths are ideal for leisurely strolls, bike rides, or even jogging, providing constant entertainment with ever-changing views. Instagram
