What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Canyon Creek Riding Stables for its beautiful scenery, well-behaved horses, and good value. Many highlight the exceptional kindness and patience of specific trail guides, making the experience memorable and comfortable, especially for beginners. Some minor critiques mention inconsistent staff friendliness and a lack of guidance during mounting.
"The trail guides were all smiling and enjoying their jobs. The ride was very enjoyable and the horses were extremely well behaved. The gentleman Dusty at the ticket booth was vary patient with our large group chaos. The petting zoo was an awesome bonus.
The best bang for your buck in the dells if you want to do a horseback ride."

"Absolutely gorgeous place, super peaceful and surrounded by nature. We did the horseback ride around sunset and the views were incredible, such a memorable experience.
The horses were calm and well taken care of. Some of the staff seemed a bit distant, but our guide Julio was amazing. Super kind, patient, and made us feel really comfortable the whole time. You could tell he genuinely cared.
Thanks to him, the ride felt extra special. Would definitely come back. 🙏🏻"

"The ride itself was great. Our horses were named Breeze and Ellie. They were so well trained they knew the trail without any guidance, so very good for people with no experience with horses. We got a little bit of a gallop going up some hills but the rest of the ride was slow and steady. The staff here is.. interesting. Basically the staff tossed us on the horses and sent us out. It was fine in the end, I would just make sure to voice any concerns you have right away at the start. Our pictures came out great and the price was lower than other attraction photos we bought in the Dells. The additional petting zoo was fun but crazy! The goats were jumping on my wife and climbing over each other to get the food. Then when we tried to leave, the donkey pushed in front of us to the gate and blocked us from leaving, unless we wanted to release him! We had to call the office for help. Overall it was a fun experience and I would do it again. I would just ask for help getting secured in the saddle, as one of my feet came out of the stirrups halfway through the ride and there wasn't really a way to ask for help."

The Trail Experience
Guides play a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience. While some staff interactions have been noted as less than ideal by a few reviewers, guides like Julio and Dave are frequently praised for their kindness, patience, and ability to make riders feel comfortable and safe. They are attentive to rider needs, with some guides checking in on individuals throughout the ride. This personal touch can significantly enhance the overall enjoyment and confidence of the riders, especially for those who might be nervous.
For those seeking a particularly memorable experience, the sunset rides are highly recommended. The changing light over the landscape creates a magical atmosphere, making the ride feel extra special. The combination of well-behaved horses, scenic trails, and attentive guides contributes to a truly enjoyable outing for most visitors.
Staff and Service Insights
It's worth noting that some guests suggest voicing any concerns or requests for assistance upfront. For example, ensuring a secure saddle fit and understanding how to manage stirrups can be important for a smooth ride. While the horses are generally well-trained, a little proactive communication with the staff can prevent minor issues from becoming larger concerns.
The petting zoo, while a fun addition, can also be a source of memorable (and sometimes chaotic) staff interactions. The animals, particularly the goats, are known for their enthusiasm when food is involved. This adds to the lively atmosphere of the stables and can lead to amusing anecdotes for visitors.
