What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Canyon Rim Visitor Center for its spectacular views of the New River Gorge Bridge and the gorge itself. The accessibility of the upper boardwalk is a significant plus, while the challenging steps to lower overlooks offer a more immersive experience for the able-bodied. Some find the drive down Fayette Station Road a bit daunting but worthwhile.
"This visitor center was surprisingly open in the middle of the government shutdown while my wife and I were in the area on a Fall vacation. That's a good thing, because it is excellent, with helpful staff, great facilities, and great views all around the center and down short trails to platforms that give you looks at the gorge and bridge. Well worth your time to stop here, and the drive down the one-way Fayette Station Road is totally worth it to get different views of the bridge from below."

"Visited here on Bridge Day! Amazing blending of people from all over with the same purpose of enjoying something so amazing! The views are incredibly breathtaking. There are ALOT of steps to get down to thd observation area. ALOT! It is not for those who cant walk or do steps. There is a beautiful observation area at the visitors center tho so dont fret, you can still see amazing views if you can't do the steps! A definite must stop on your through the West Virginia mountains!"
