Philly to LA. Blue Ridge Pkwy to Route 66 (roughly). Would love some tips for West Virginia and the Smokys; Hot springs, river floats, great drives and views, and of course, good food! Thanks in advance.
You might have to detour a little but Wichita mountains wildlife refuge in Lawton, OK is worth checking out in my opinion. If you're an omnivore you can get a great bison burger at a restaurant right up the road in Meers, OK.

"Interesting forest. Itβs very quiet and the trees are close together so it has a kind of creepy vibe. We did have an amazing experience with a deer foraging in the forest. Some of the trails are a little narrow and overgrown but nothing too bad."
Jeremy Williams
"Not sure what the hype is about. It's tall trees planted 6' apart in every direction. Kind of cool but not much more. Definitely still able to see the sun."
Sheila Wyatt
"Parking is free. Beautiful hike. The entrance will be really busy at dusk if you go on the weekends. I was last there on a Saturday, and It looked like three photographers were doing shoots. We were finished with our hike by then, but we felt terrible walking by peoples special moments to get out of the park. Next time we'll go in the morning. It really is beautiful."
