"Been dreaming of visiting the Stahl House for so long, and was lucky enough to get in on 2 cancellation spots while visiting LA from Australia. It did not disappoint!
Was just as amazing as the photos with the most incredible view of LA.
Scott was an awesome tour guide.
Will be planning on doing the night tour next time we visit LA! 🤍"

"Absolutely amazing tour. It really felt like we were just relaxing with the guide and listening to the history of the house. It was super interesting, the guide was great and the house is just so beautiful. The evening tour was entirely worth it as we got to see it in different light. Fantastic tour well worth the cost and 3 month wait. Just plan in advance."
Steph Couvrette
"Loved visiting the Stahl house, which represents the most iconic mid century modern home.
This home has 2 beds, 1.5 baths and views of seemingly all of LA. It's amazing to see how people lived in the 60s (home was built in 1960).
The streets in the area are tight and parking is even tighter (the home has no garage, only a carport and a driveway.
We enjoyed hearing about the construction of the home, its owners and its rich history. Reservations must be made about 4 months in advance, so plan accordingly."

The Architectural Significance of Case Study House #22
Koenig's design for the Stahl House masterfully utilizes steel framing and glass walls to create a sense of spaciousness and connection to the surrounding environment. The house appears to float above the city, offering unparalleled panoramic views that were a key design consideration. This architectural feat not only made the Stahl House an icon of modern design but also a symbol of the aspirational lifestyle associated with post-war Los Angeles. Its enduring appeal lies in its ability to blend functionality with breathtaking aesthetics, making it a must-see for architecture enthusiasts.
Visitors often remark on the house's seemingly simple yet brilliant construction. The way the glass walls dissolve the boundaries between the interior and the vast Los Angeles landscape is particularly striking. This design choice allows natural light to flood the space and provides a constant visual connection to the city below, creating an immersive living experience. The Stahl House continues to inspire architects and designers, serving as a testament to the power of thoughtful, site-specific design.
Experiencing the Iconic Views
Many visitors recommend timing their visit to coincide with sunset. As the sun dips below the horizon, the city lights begin to twinkle, transforming the view into a dazzling spectacle. This 'golden hour' and the subsequent 'blue hour' provide photographers with incredible opportunities to capture the essence of Los Angeles. The experience of standing within the glass walls, with the vast expanse of the city unfolding before you, is often described as magical and unforgettable.
Beyond sunset, the daytime views are equally impressive, offering a clear perspective of the sprawling metropolis and its diverse topography. Whether bathed in sunlight or illuminated by city lights, the view from the Stahl House is a constant reminder of its unique and privileged location. It's an integral part of the Stahl House experience, making the visit a truly immersive encounter with the spirit of Los Angeles.
