Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Neahkahnie Mountain for its absolutely stunning, unbeatable ocean and coastal views, calling it a favorite hike in the Pacific Northwest. The moderate challenge of the trails, particularly the south route, is appreciated for providing a good workout with a significant payoff. However, some hikers find the north trail to be significantly overgrown and difficult to navigate, with slippery conditions and steep drop-offs.

"Hiked from Oswald west parking area to elk trail across the bridge, to devils cauldron, to north neahkahnie mountain trail, then went down on the west side and finished on the 101 going back to Oswald west parking area. The north side of the trail is over 60% over grown, the trail is very narrow and when it's not overgrown there are gnarly tree roots to cross with steep drop offs. In the beginning the trail was very slippery. The west side of the trail was a lot more easier and I saw many people and dogs on the west side. On the north side I only came across 2 other hikers. There were no bathrooms for any portion of this 11 mile hike I did, only the great outdoors. 7/16/18"

SoloFemaleAdventurer

"Moderate Hike, currently MANY downed trees on way up (which most can make way over or under) and toward top (on N side trail section) which I had to bushwack around. Nice payoff at top once you re-find the trail."

Jon N

"One of my favorite hikes in the Pacific Northwest. Unbeatable views in the beginning and at the summit - especially on a clear day. Moderately strenuous, a good distance to feel like you got some exercise. The trail from the north is a bit more steep and a mile or two longer than coming from the south."
