What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise Holy Cross Church for its grand, traditional architecture, beautiful stained glass, and the serene atmosphere conducive to reflection. The welcoming nature of some clergy and the traditional elements during mass are frequently highlighted as positive aspects. However, some reviews mention less-than-friendly experiences with rectory staff, particularly concerning administrative matters like baptisms.
"We visited this church only once as it was the wedding ceremony location for one of our favorite couples. We see many churches full-time wedding photographers, but rarely do we get to experience the perfect combination of wonderfully welcoming people, such beautiful architecture, and ample space and spots for photographing the wedding both as it’s happening and afterwards with the newlyweds. We are from about an hour away in Connecticut, and I certainly hope it gives us the chance to work here again. Our tremendous thanks to all for a momentous occasion we will never forget!

"My goal is to visit all catholic churches in CT. This was my #36th one and I loved it. It's grand, open, traditional with the stained glass, lots of wood, and history. I also like that the bells r rung while priest lifts the bread and wine. Very old school and I miss this at other masses."

"Started coming here with my family a few months ago. The priests are extremely friendly but the staff at the rectory not so much. We went in to inquire about baptizing our daughter, she was extremely rude to us saying we needed to find our own godparents and required us to become parishioners before she would even consider giving us the paperwork for baptism to which we also had to pay for. After explaining to her numerous times we had almost no catholic friends or family and the only person we had was unable to get her records in the Dominican Republic she rudely told us if people in villages in Poland can do it so can she and refused to even think about assistance in finding godparents. Her attitude and arrogance ultimately decided for us to no longer continue being parishioners there.
Needless to say we have since found another church who not only is extremely friendly and welcoming but the priest there has been assisting us in finding suitable parishioners to be her godparents and I am pleased to say she is being baptized next month."
