What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bagdad Cafe is a legendary Route 66 stop celebrated for its cinematic soul and quirky, welcoming atmosphere. Visitors love the nostalgic decor, the connection to the cult film, and the friendly owners. While the kitchen's full service can be inconsistent, the opportunity to experience this unique piece of history makes it a memorable destination for movie buffs and road trippers alike.
"Bagdad Café is a legendary Route 66 stop with a cinematic soul. It was made famous by the 1987 cult German-American film of the same name. This roadside diner offers a slice of cinematic history filled with memorabilia, signatures from global travelers, and a warm and welcoming vibe. The decor is delightfully eccentric with business cards on the walls, vintage photos, and a jukebox that still hums with desert charm. Whether you're a movie buff, a road tripper, or just chasing the spirit of the open highway, this place delivers nostalgia. When I visited the Café, only coffee and non-alcoholic cold drinks were available. Andrea Pruett, the owner, is determined to keep the cafe open and running as a tourist attraction for photo opportunities, drinks, and souvenirs, allowing visitors to see the movie's iconic interior."

"The Bagdad Cafe is back - 7am to 7pm hours. Mark has done a great job of restoring the old Route 66 & Movie landmark. If you saw what it looked like as the roof failed, it is simply amazing with all of the flags back on the ceiling and the walls look great. And the hospitality is second-to-none. Got my picture taken behind the counter and a souvenir postcard of myself along with my Route 66 socks. He said the bathroom renovation is nearly done. Kitchen is still closed. There is a GoFundMe to support the renovations."
