What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Oakland Museum of California for its diverse and engaging collections spanning art, history, and natural sciences. The 'Friday Nights' event is a major draw, offering a vibrant community atmosphere with live music and food trucks. While the museum is packed with information, some note that it can be overwhelming to see everything in one visit.
"(Review for the kids place) Fun place to take your kids. It can get a bit busy, but plenty space/activities for the average day. For any special events, it gets a bit loud (even for kids).
The museum exhibits around the kids place makes the experience fun while the kids are allowed to crawl around and 'interact' with the spaces.
For families with kids, it may be hard to corral your kids and wait by any of the elevators. They are a bit old, so waiting for an elevator to move is a bit challenging.
The outdoor space is nice for fresh air."

"So much to see! The museum is separated in 3 sections, history, art, and science. There's sections explicitly for children engagement (fun for adults too!) Also free programing on Friday evening that included dance lessons and a free concert! The art exhibition showed a wide variety of art and artists. It also provided so much insight to the culture of the area, how it was shaped and what it impacted. I can't wait to visit again!"
Roarie Yum
"They had a fantastic display of their history of Black migration to Oakland. Clean and very nice exhibits all around that were informative. Definitely go back and check out when they have different stuff happening"
