"Such a Beautiful Surprise! Definitely a hidden Gem! There are actually several trails, a butterfly garden, dragonfly pond, seagulls, ducks, turtles etc in the wetlands area and a couple large ponds. Beautiful carved benches and woodwork from the eagle scouts and so much more!"

"Urban wildlife sanctuary! My birding group was very lucky to be there on a volunteer day (they had the interpretive office open without appointment), and were able to see many bio-facts and purchase the most adorable matching tshirts. Even when the office isn't open, there is a clean portapotty in the free parking area. The butterfly garden plants were not blooming yet, and new spring foliage was just coming in, and we saw 21 species of birds, 2 species of mammals, 1 (maybe 2) species of amphibians, and 1 turtle species! Oh, and it's free to visit 😀 I absolutely recommend Heron Haven, and if you have a few dollars to donate, do what you can!"

"For your best first-time experience, bring binoculars and download the free Merlin app for audio bird identification. Also a great if you're looking for a place for prayer, shinrin-yoku, meditation, or just a respite from busy life. Always free. Port-a-potty available. For meet-ups, check out "Omaha Nature and Science Meet-up" on Facebook."
