What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Armand Bayou Nature Center as a hidden gem, highlighting its well-maintained trails, diverse wildlife, and educational opportunities. The pontoon tours and bison sightings are particularly memorable. Some find the heat and mosquitos challenging during peak seasons, and indoor AC options are limited.
"The sunset pontoon tour was wonderful! We had a great time and saw alligators, deer, herons, and egrets. I highly recommend it and your payments help continue conservation efforts!"

"A hidden gem of the Clear Lake area! Well maintained for decades, this is a wonderful place to visit if you enjoy trail walking. But walking in the forest isn't all it has to offer- there's different buildings that host various animals, some featuring educational or recreational events at times, and throughout the preserve are wooden observation areas where you can view swamps (and possibly spot an alligator in the water!), bison in beautiful prairies, and you might even find a cute Armadillo on the trails! It's very safe here, but if you have children please be attentive as there can be snakes on the trails (I personally run into Armadillos more than them, fortunately!)"

"Always a great time when we visit! We happened to arrive just in time for their boat ride and decided to join in. It was a wonderful experience that took about 1.5hrs. we saw many birds and alligators. Late winter and early spring is a great time to see migrant birds and mating displays. We were told that there is a bald eagle couple staying here but did that sight them today. The trails are always pleasant with a variety of wildlife to find. We also enjoy seeing the bison. There are also plenty of programs available for people of all ages to enjoy. A big plus is the cleanliness of all areas including the bathrooms. All the staff members were amazing at providing us a lot of information about the area and animals and provided us with great service.
We're always looking forward to visiting!"
