"Nice little beach tucked away in the neighborhood that can be accessed from the Tseriadun State Recreation Site. Quiet and not crowded any of the times I was there. Found some nice little agates while strolling the beach and captured some beautiful photos of the calm after a storm and the coastal sunset. There are no restrooms, but there is a Porta-Potty available near the parking area. There's a couple of easy and short trails to walk to get to the beach access. When you're walking on the beach, stay safe and watch out for 'Sneaker Waves', this beach is notorious for them."

"My favorite beach in Port Orford. Definitely lives up to it's name. Best days are Monday through Thursday. Either 7 am to around ten-ish. Or around 5 to sunset. And if you have to hunt for agates you missed low tide. I have found ones as big as a medium sized dog's paw. In less than a year I filled almost 2 half gallon canning jars."

"This was a beautiful beach. The locals directed us there to collect agates. My husband went down & wasn't sure what he was looking for but there was a couple digging there & showed him what to look for. He came back with a pocketful of them for the grandkids!"

The Art of Agate Hunting
When searching, keep an eye out for stones that are rounded and have a slightly translucent quality. The banding can range from subtle to striking, and finding a particularly large or colorful agate is a rewarding experience. Some visitors have even filled half-gallon jars with their finds in less than a year! Remember to be patient and enjoy the process of discovery. It's not just about the find, but the peaceful rhythm of the waves and the thrill of the hunt.
Pro Tip: If you're unsure what to look for, observe other agate hunters or ask locals for guidance. They are often happy to share their knowledge and point you in the right direction.
Capturing Coastal Beauty
Beyond the grand vistas, the beach also presents opportunities for macro photography. The tide pools on the rocky southern end are miniature ecosystems, teeming with life like sea anemones and mussels. These provide fascinating subjects for close-up shots. Even the agates themselves, with their intricate banding, can make for compelling photographic subjects. Remember to protect your gear from the salt spray and sand, and consider bringing a tripod for stable shots, especially during low-light conditions.
Photography Tip: Experiment with different angles and perspectives. Getting low to the ground can emphasize the textures of the beach, while shooting from the rocky outcrops can offer a more elevated view of the coastline.
