What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Orvis Hot Springs is praised for its natural beauty, varied pools, and relaxing atmosphere, offering a genuine 'hippie dip' experience. However, some visitors note that the changing facilities could use an upgrade and cleanliness could be improved. Customer service at the front desk has also been a point of contention for some.
"I’ve been a member for 14 years and Orvis is a sacred, family-friendly place that I’ve long loved, but it feels like things are changing with new management. The inside building was dirty tonight, the indoor kid-friendly pool is closed indefinitely, light bulbs were burned out along the walking paths, the big pool had a lot of algae buildup on the steps, and the waterfall pond was way colder than normal. The women’s locker room is shabbier than ever. There’s been a big staff turnover in recent months and it feels disorganized. The staff was curt when I asked when the indoor pool might be open again, since families come here and want a place for their kids to be able to play— ourselves, included. She told me there’s no timeline for when it will reopen. There were aggressive signs at the entry that list extensive rules for kids and suggest people take their children to the Montrose Rec Center instead. This place used to be awesome and family-friendly with staff who stayed on for years. I don’t know who’s running it now, but it’s not what it used to be. The vibes are off."

"This is a nice place and has lots of space, which is great. Seems to be well maintained and clean. There are lockers provided which is nice.
There isn't a lot of shade, so on normal sunny days this would not be a pleasant visit. They also allow smoking, which is bonkers to me. Fortunately there weren't many smokers during my visit, but I did smell smoke which is awful, and I did my best to get away from the smoke. Gross."
Jill Eppenberger
"My partner and I camped at Orvis in our van, which gave us 24 access to the pools. What an incredible experience! Stunning location, gorgeous pools, clean and charming layout. Not too many people either even during the day. Wonderful experience."
