Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Spanish Governor's Palace as a well-preserved historical gem offering significant value for its low admission fee. The informative self-guided tour and charming courtyard are frequently highlighted. However, the lack of climate control, especially during hot months, is a recurring point of caution.

"Spanish Governor’s Palace is a hidden gem well worth visiting when in San Antonio. The woman at reception handed me a map to use for the self-guided tour and offered a generous amount of information when I asked. Inside you’ll visit a former residence that was used also for commercial purposes with period furnishings. There are information plaques in each room. There’s even a courtyard that can be rented. Entrance fee was $5. Highly recommend!"

Nanita

"For such a minimal fee of five dollars, it would be hard to understand why someone wouldn’t go to this historical site.
Well, preserved and beautiful in its own simple way (nowadays). It was obviously a mansion in the past.
The grounds are beautiful .
However, there is obviously no air conditioning or heating. It is sweltering in the hot months and I’m sure freezing in the cold months. You’ve been warned."

Auda Gee

"A historical part of the city of San Antonio. It is surprising how well preserved it is after all this time, and on top of that how many different owners and even businesses it has gone through. There have been some modifications made to it, but for the most part they have complemented and kept the mansion close to its original state."
