Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Peña-Peck House for its deep history, authentic period furnishings, and the captivating guided tours. The unique legacy of being operated by women and supporting local artisans through The Woman's Exchange is a significant highlight. While the donation-based entry is appreciated, some may find the lack of fixed pricing a point of consideration.

"We stumbled upon this house purely by chance while walking by, and it turned out to be such an incredible experience. This place is filled with deep history, and I highly recommend taking the guided tour. Walking through the house while listening to its story was truly captivating.
What makes this house even more unique is that it has always been operated by women. Back in the day, when women couldn’t work and many were in need, this house provided a way for them to work together and earn a living. Remarkably, it is still run by women today, who care for the house and preserve its legacy.
The house originally belonged to a famous doctor, and it was his granddaughter who left it to the city. Inside, there are two floors to explore, and every piece of furniture and decor is original. The authenticity and attention to detail are simply stunning, making the history come alive as you walk through the rooms.
My child and I were both deeply impressed by how beautifully everything is organized. Before leaving, we couldn’t resist taking home a small souvenir—places like this are too special to leave without bringing a piece of their story with you.
What’s even more inspiring is that the house operates on a donation-based system. You pay what you feel is appropriate, which adds to its unique charm. Before leaving, you can sign the guestbook, making you feel like a part of its history.
This magical place left a lasting impression on us, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a treasure that shouldn’t be missed!"

"We hosted a baby shower at this venue and it was absolutely perfect and gorgeous. The women who are part of the Women’s Exchange were extremely supportive and wonderful to host along side of. They made the process smooth and easy. They provided tables, linens, chairs, and even set it all up for us. They were also nice enough to let us drop off all of our event decorations the day before the event. We couldn’t have asked for a better day/venue choice to celebrate. I highly recommend the Pena Peck House and Women’s Exchange for all your events!"

"If you enjoy history you need to stop by this house that has gone through Spanish, British, and American hands. Not only is the history neat, the current work they do with the Woman’s Exchange is vital work and provides scholarships for women.

Go see what an early American kitchen looked like, and tour the bedrooms and dining room of the house. The tour guides were knowledgeable and very friendly. The gift shop supports not only the historical home but also the ongoing work of the Woman’s Exchange."
