Reviews Summary

Grant's Trail is highly praised for its beautiful, well-maintained paved path, abundant native wildflowers, and peaceful wilderness feel, making it ideal for biking and walking. While some find the facilities basic, the natural scenery and lack of urban hassle are consistent highlights for visitors. Reddit

"Nice trail but, if you have not biked it yet, try St. Joe State Park paved bike trail. Best in Eastern Missouri and my wife and I have ridden them all.
Put in at Missouri Mines State Historical Site. Safe easy parking with direct access to trail. 14 mile loop, 16 if you add on a trip to and from Farmington Access.
Wife and I have biked this trail weekly since March of 2025. Magnificant native wildflowers, new displays each week. We have never encountered more then 6 others bikers on any of our trips, plus a few day hikers.
Asphalt path, maybe 8’ wide, good condition and well maintained. Follows a very old narrow gauge rail path used to haul lead ore out of hills long ago. Totally reforested now. Pine and oak forests with open lower canopies, many sections through old rock cuts that have now been covered by a forest of trees and flowers.
This trail is an absolute must for those who wish to ride through a real wilderness without the urban trail hassle.
You can also tour Missouri Mines Historical Site and add in a trip to one of the local wineries. On June 14 and 15 they are having a “rock swap” at Missouri Mines which sounds interesting.
If you love biking, wilderness and native Missouri flowers, bike this trail before you die."
