Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Fort Nisqually for its educational value and immersive living history experience, with many appreciating the knowledgeable and kind staff. Special events are highlighted as particularly engaging. Some reviewers noted inconsistent interaction levels from interpreters and occasional construction or closure issues.

"Fabulous step back into time at Fort Nisqually! We're a homeschool family and really appreciate what they offer here. We heard about it by reading Douglas Bond's The Battle of Seattle and he includes Fort Nisqually in his historical fiction book, which my kids LOVED! After reading the book, we wanted to visit the current living history museum and we had a great time. Very educational and the staff were knowledgeable and kind. Wish we had known about the surrounding area ...nice woods, great spot for a picnic. Also, don't miss Wren's Nest bakery nearby...AWESOME bakery. If we're ever in the area again, we'll return."

Veronica Schoenenberger

"They are always worth a trip, in my opinion, but special events like today are the best! My husband, kids (8 and 6), and I were there for almost the whole day. We had an absolute blast!

They people are extremely knowledgeable about what they do and/or the area in which they volunteer. They are ready to answer any question, and if for some reason they don't know the answer, they will tell you so (though they may offer an educated guess, letting you know it is a guess.)

If you are ever in the area, stop by! They would love to have you."

Kelsey G

"Pretty cool! The actors are somewhat nice. They seem to be more talkative to some and less to others. When I went, it was empty. I noticed the blacksmiths talk a ton to the family that went in before us. They didn’t even acknowledge me or my son. Same happened with others as well. It’s okay once but won’t return. It was fun watching M.Night Shalyman’s The Village when we got home though."
