Edit: I’m getting a lot of comments asking if this is Colossal Cave or Kartchner, It’s neither! It’s a little fun cave in the back of the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Although I did go to Colassal and that was amazing, will do a video on it soon. I just thought this was special because it was a bit more hidden….. Bright sunlight fades as you descend the gentle incline into Arizona Sonora Desert ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum for its unique blend of zoo, botanical garden, and natural history museum. The immersive experience, knowledgeable staff, and diverse exhibits are highly appreciated. Some visitors note that the desert heat can be challenging, even with available shade and water stations.

"Fantastic place! There are enough animals, fish, amphibians, etc. on display to qualify as a desert zoo, but there is also plenty of plants, cacti, walking, and general desert information that it makes for a good museum too.

Even with the shaded spots and indoor exhibits, my mom got overheated, so she and my dad went back to the coffee shop. They told my wife and I to continue on, so we went through some more exhibits and enjoyed them before heading back.

The desert has so much beauty and diversity, and yet most people (including myself in the past) only think of it as sand, dirt, shrubs and cacti. This is a great place to visit!"

John Landeck

"This is not a tourist trap. It's a great place to see and learn about the plants and critters of the Sonoran Desert. We spent almost three hours exploring the trails, despite 105+ degree temps. So nice to have water stations all along the way. Bring a big water bottle!
The staff was friendly helpful, even providing what turned out to be a great restaurant recommendation! We visited the indoor exhibits after our trail walk, but totally forgot to see the reptile house! Nice gift shop with local indigenous artists crafts and much more."

Keith Thompson

"My wife and I visited for free through the Pima County Library and had a great time. We especially loved the underground section that had some interesting geology lessons! Barely any waiting even on the Sunday before labor day."
