People were even throwing chemicals into pools that black people were swimming in. Mister Rogers received a lot of backlash for this. He kept going.

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Warm Springs Historic District to be a fascinating and informative stop, particularly for its connection to FDR and the history of polio treatment. While the pools are empty, the exhibits and passionate guides offer a compelling glimpse into the past. Some note the water temperature is lukewarm and the facility could be cleaner, but most agree it's a worthwhile historical experience, especially when combined with the Little White House visit.

"Yeah...um...the site is definitely historic which is great and pairs well with the Little White House tickets but the facility is certainly dirty though it's not like I was expecting it to be the cleanest. The site is very informative and even has an exhibit outside demonstrating the temperature of the warm springs water! Only the temperature of the water is lukewarm...if that. Though it may be my fault for going during the dead of Winter."

"I visited after my tour of Roosevelt’s Little White House, just a few minutes away. Both locations are a must visit if in the area.

Upon entering I was greeted by a wonderful and passionate guide who told me all about the pool and the plans to rebuild it. Exhibits were very informative and you can then go outside to view the pool patients received therapy in. There isn’t a lot of walking involved and at the very most you may spend one hour here, but it is definitely worth the stop!"

"Fascinating history! The pools are long empty but word is that it is being considered for reopening to the public one day with full warm Spring pools. There is a small running basin where one can feel the water and bring home a souvenir of a sample. Bottles are sold in gift shop . I highly recommend visiting these once filled Warm Spring pools to get a feel of history . And learn about the Polio Epidemic and see the first bottle of Pilio Vaccine on exhibit. See photo."
