Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Glen Helen Nature Preserve for its beautiful natural scenery, including waterfalls, ancient trees, and a unique marsh ecosystem shaped by beavers. The nearby town of Yellow Springs adds to its appeal. However, some find the $10 parking fee steep for the amenities offered, and trail signage can be lacking.

"Is the area interesting and diverse? Yes. Worth paying $10 to park with no access to bathrooms (they were closed for a private event)? Not for me. I understand the proceeds go to the raptor center, and that's great, but we didn't visit the raptor center. I'd be willing to pay for parking, but $10 is steep for what you are granted access to. Others have said there are other areas to park that you don't have to pay? The trails are well maintained but lack signage. Download a copy of the trail map so the numbers on the trail make sense. The beaver dam was interesting to see. The loop hike was fairly easy after the 100+ stone stairs to get to the bottom of the gorge."

Angela Werling

"An interesting little trail in a cute small town of Yellow Springs. It is just one road over from the historic downtown so you can hike this trail and then visit the shops downtown. This trail has a beautiful bridge, hikes along a river and a spring and ends in a marsh that was shaped by the beaver populations dams. Not very strenuous but enough ups and downs that it isnt exactly an entry level hike. Add this to your to-do list! (Parking is paid)"

Brittany Holmes

"Great easy hiking that is also incredibly unique. From the damn to the waterfalls, it’s a great nature area. Trails aren’t the best marked so make sure you have some sort of navigation tool if you’re not just going in the loop. There are other cool trails that come off the main loop as well. Great spot!"
