What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Khiva Bazaar is a vibrant and colorful marketplace offering a wide array of traditional crafts, spices, and delicious dried fruits. Visitors appreciate the immersive local ambiance and the opportunity to find unique souvenirs. However, some note that prices can be inflated for tourists, and the historical context of the site as a former slave market adds a somber layer to the experience.
"Dried fruits and cakes looked great. I missed a Tea Garden to enjoy the delicacies on Site. People are Not really used to foreigners I guess. Fruits are so delicious Like peaces WE got offered for free but I payed w 5000 SOM."

"Well a bit of a double edge sword with the Khiva Bazaar. As expected it is a buzzing, colourful, full of everything from dresses to spices to bread to foods of all types. We loved the money changers on the edge of the market. But at the back of my mind was this history as this was the place of the notorious and largest slave market in Central Asia. In fact Khiva and Bukhara in the 16th-century were both major global slave trade centers with about 100,000 slaves sold in the slave market of both places every year. A chilling thought as raomed the vibrancy of the place and tried not to be duped by the money changes. But we still had time to buy presents for grandchildren."

"Great place to immserse self in the local ambience. We had lunch here, it was delicious, but be prepared to pay tourist price, which average from 500-10000k som. The food is way better than that of the restaurants in the old town."
