Gillette Stadium
About
Gillette Stadium seats roughly 65,000 and is home to the New England Patriots and New England Revolution. The open-air bowl creates a loud, electric atmosphere. Expect a passionate crowd, strong sightlines, and a distinctly American sports-entertainment experience with ample concourse space.
History
Opened in 2002, replacing the old Foxboro Stadium. It has hosted six Super Bowls (as a Patriots home), WrestleMania, and major concerts. The Patriots won multiple NFL Championships here. It will serve as a 2026 FIFA World Cup venue for group-stage and knockout matches.
Getting there
Take I-95 to Route 1 South or I-495 to Route 1 North. On-site lots (Patriot Place parking) hold thousands of cars but fill fast; arrive 2+ hours early. Expect significant post-match gridlock lasting 60–90 minutes on Route 1.
Uber and Lyft designated drop-off/pick-up zones are in the Patriot Place lot area. Surge pricing is near-certain post-match; pre-scheduling a pickup or walking to Foxboro Station first can reduce wait times and costs significantly.
The MBTA runs special Commuter Rail trains on the Providence/Stoughton Line directly to Foxboro Station, a short walk from the stadium. Trains depart from South Station in Boston. Book tickets in advance; trains sell out quickly on match days.
Where to stay
Most fans stay in Boston (~30 miles north) in neighbourhoods like Back Bay, South Boston, or Cambridge for nightlife and dining. Closer options include Foxborough itself and Wrentham, which are quieter, suburban, and convenient but limited in restaurant and bar variety.
