BMO Field
About
BMO Field seats roughly 30,000 and sits on the Exhibition Place grounds beside Lake Ontario. Compact and loud, it creates an intimate atmosphere. Expanded temporary seating for 2026 will boost capacity. The open lakeside end gives stunning skyline views, amplifying crowd noise beautifully.
History
Opened in 2007 as Canada's first soccer-specific stadium, BMO Field hosted Toronto FC's inaugural MLS season. It was expanded in 2016 to add a roof and upper deck. It has hosted Canadian Men's National Team World Cup qualifiers and the 2016 MLS Cup Final.
Getting there
Take the Gardiner Expressway to Strachan Avenue exit. On-site parking at Exhibition Place is limited and pre-booking is essential. Expect heavy post-match gridlock on the Gardiner. Nearby Ontario Place overflow lots fill fast; arrive at least 90 minutes early.
Uber and Lyft drop-offs are designated along Princes' Boulevard at Exhibition Place. Post-match surges are severe — expect 2–3× pricing and 30–45 minute waits. Walking to King Street or Bathurst Street before requesting a ride reduces wait times significantly.
Take the TTC Line 1 (Yonge-University) to St. Andrew Station, then board the 509 Harbourfront or 511 Bathurst streetcar westbound to Exhibition Loop — roughly a 5-minute ride. Total journey from downtown is about 20–25 minutes. Post-match streetcars queue but move efficiently.
Where to stay
Most fans stay downtown along King Street West, Queen Street West, or the Entertainment District — all lively, walkable neighbourhoods packed with bars and restaurants. Airbnb options in Parkdale and Liberty Village offer budget alternatives within easy walking or cycling distance of the stadium.
