What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Refugio Cajón del Azul offers a breathtaking natural experience with its stunning canyon and refreshing pools, though some visitors find the accommodation and food prices high for the quality. The mandatory online registration and the challenging hike are key aspects to prepare for.
"2 stars as a place to stay in general, as a dinner place and as a sleeping place.
I think the Refugio is very average for what the rest of the places offer. The installations are just ok, and it has no view whatsoever. I think there are nicer places to stay nearby.
I lower it 1 Star from average because The prices I found very expensive (I know that is expensive to take things up there). I paid almost 10 dollars a plate of lentils which it was mainly water and had a piece of bone with fat at the top. I figured that being a mountain place, I was going to eat the best stu ever, but it was not the case. Is not about the price, but the quality. Beer 750cm was about 8dls.*
Also, as the place was packed, they offered to stay at the floor, side by side with other people (see picture) at.... the same price! as the beds that where at the top and private. Not good for marketing. It costed me about 15dls the night.*
Bottom line... if you can, stay nearby the cajón to check it out, as there are nicer places with better view.
*prices in comparison to other places in Argentina."

"This place is a dream come true for the nature lovers !!! You have to walk 3 hours approx to reach there, in between there is a place called "playa" which is approx 2 hours and believe me the views are breathtaking , one can relax here and eat as well since there is a restaurant . A must visit place while you are in Argentina ."
