Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views from Mount Ninderry's summit, calling it a rewarding hike with a great workout. It's highly praised as a dog-friendly option close to Brisbane, though the steep summit steps can be challenging for some. The lack of facilities and limited parking are noted drawbacks.

"This is one of the dog-friendly hikes closest to Brisbane, making it a great option for a day trip with your furry friend. The hike to the top is enjoyable and offers a unique experience. However, it's important to note that the trail includes some steep steps near the summit, which may not be suitable for senior dogs or people with mobility issues, such as those with arthritis or the elderly.

That said, it’s a great workout for those who are up for the challenge!

Be aware that there are no restrooms or water fountains along the trail, so be sure to bring enough water for yourself and your dog. We arrived around 10am on a weekend and found only two parking spots left, so I recommend getting there early to secure a space."

"Views are amazing, the walk up is very steep with a lot of steps to the top. (Take plenty of water for yourselves and your 4 legged mate). I am a fit person and find this walk gives my heart a good work out! ♥️♥️♥️. Dog friendly (on a lead). I’ve included some pics from the top."

"Mount Ninderry walking trail is a really great walk up Mount Ninderry (304M above sea level). At 1400M long, for this track I would say you don’t need to be very fit at all -I’m not. There is a latter section with a fair few steep steps, but it is nowhere near as gruelling as Mount Coolum. They have installed a couple of barriers at the main Eastern and Western Lookouts but there are several other spots where you can appreciate a good view if you are careful of the cliff edge. The sign says allow 3H return trip, but I did it in 1H. Nice walk."

The Mount Ninderry Summit Walk Experience

The Mount Ninderry Summit Walk is a popular, relatively short hike known for its rewarding summit views and its accessibility as a dog-friendly activity. The trail itself is about 1.4 kilometers long, making it manageable for most fitness levels. However, the final ascent to the summit features a significant number of steep steps, which can provide a good workout and a bit of a challenge. Many visitors find the climb invigorating, describing it as a great way to get the heart pumping. Reddit

What sets Mount Ninderry apart is its stunning panoramic scenery. The walk is also noted for its wildlife encounters, with some visitors spotting impressive creatures like the Giant Golden Orb spider. Reddit

Practical considerations are key for this walk. There are no facilities like restrooms or water fountains on the trail, so visitors must come prepared with ample water for themselves and their pets. The Mount Ninderry Summit Walk is designed to be accessible, with a clear path that is generally easy to follow. The initial section of the walk is relatively gentle, allowing hikers to warm up. These steps are a defining feature of the walk and are often highlighted by visitors as the most strenuous part of the ascent. Reddit

Upon reaching the summit, visitors are greeted with multiple lookout points. While the primary eastern and western lookouts are equipped with safety barriers, the trail offers several other vantage points. These alternative spots provide excellent opportunities to soak in the views, but it's crucial to exercise caution and be aware of the surrounding terrain, especially near any cliff edges. The loop at the top allows for a leisurely exploration of these viewpoints. Reddit
