Is anyone else catching fish in the lakes around here?!
I admit, I might just suck at fishing, but I keep trying to fish in Langford lake and Elk/Beaver Lake and I haven't caught a single thing. I just want to know if I'm getting skunked because there aren't many fish biting, or, if I just suck at fishing haha.

Thetis Lake alternative
My daughter’s birthday is this weekend and our plan was to take two cars full of her friends to Thetis (her favourite place to swim cause of the water temperature). With the no swim (blue-green algae bloom) now in effect , any suggestions on where to take nine 12 year olds?…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Spectacle Lake Provincial Park is praised for its tranquil atmosphere, beautiful lakeside trail, and peaceful picnic spots. Visitors appreciate its off-the-beaten-path location, offering a less crowded experience. Some find the west side of the trail a bit challenging due to roots and rocks.
"Beautiful hiking trails with picnic tables. 2km hiking trail that goes around the lake. There is a toilet and dogs play off leash."
Sheelin David
"One of my favorite little parks in the Region. A bit off the beaten path, so isn't overcrowded.
There's a little beach and canoe launch 100m from the parking lot. A couple of great little picnic spots overlooking the lake and numerous viewpoints along the trail.
The trail here is a pretty short and easy loop (around 2.5km). It's well maintained and easy, but not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The east side of the lake is fine for little ones or those with issues, but the west side is cut into a hill with numerous roots and rocks. Not a goat trail, but might be challenging for some.
There's often some canoes and kayaks out. I see folks fishing, but have never seen anyone reel anything in, so can't say whether that's a fruitful endeavour."

"A lake where you can feel quiet. There are three picnic tables that look like they were recently built. There is also a restroom, which is convenient."
